Agriculture

Like other districts in the country depending entirely on agriculture, kiboga district is predominantly an agricultural area. It relies basically on farming as the main source of income and the major source of employment. Agriculture constitutes 80% of the total labour force and the rest does livestock farming. The areas which are predominantly agricultural based are Bukomera, Muwanga, Kiboga, and Lwamata sub-countries. The major crops grown include food crops like cassava, maize, bananas While the other places like Dwariro and Kapeka sub-countries are known for cattle keeping.

They are mostly involved in milk production and beef production. However, all their production is mostly on subsistence production due to many factors like lack of skills and capital to open up large or intensive farming activities.Modern farming practices like use of machines have not yet been introduced but there is more hope to change the trend with the coming of NAADS and the government Plan for Modernization of Agriculture (PMA). However because of the coffee and banana wilt disease affecting most gardens, Vanilla growing is quickly picking up. It does well in the area and fetches high local and foreign markets. There is also bee keeping and fishing farming.
